LOS ANGELES, CA (October 15, 2010) – Chart-topping keyboardist and multi-instrumentalist Brian Culbertson has reached yet another benchmark in his successful career. “That’s Life,” featuring guitarist Earl Klugh, reached the top spot on both the Billboard and R&R charts this week. “That’s Life” is the latest single from Culbertson’s much talked about twelfth album, aptly titled XII (GRP Records), which debuted at No.1 on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz chart in July. The song marks Culbertson’s twelfth No. 1 hit, joining the long list of his timeless chart-toppers which also include “So Good,” “Get It On,” “All About You” and “Always Remember.”
Although the string of hit songs and albums should not come as a big surprise to Culbertson since he’s been perfecting his craft from the tender age of eight, he’s still humbled. “I’m truly thankful that I’ve been able to do what I love for so long and that my music continues to resonate with the people,” he says.
XII is a diverse collection of beautifully composed songs including the hit ballad “Skies Wide Open,” featuring Avant, which the two can be seen performing on the Mo’Nique Show (BET) on October 20. The album also boasts an all-star group of artists on collaborations ranging from “I Wanna Love You” with the legendary Ray Parker, Jr., the party song “Another Love” featuring the silky-voiced Kenny Lattimore and the persuasive “Out On the Floor” guest starring balladeer supreme Brian McKnight to the soulful “Don’t U Know Me By Now” with vocal powerhouse Faith Evans, the all-out party jam “Feelin’ It” featuring Go-Go music pioneer Chuck Brown and a cameo from comedian Sinbad. 9.1.10 A Special Message from Brian! Well folks, summer is almost over, the sun is going down quicker and I’m getting that ‘back-to-school’ feeling I used to have....you know the one. Some of you used to dread it and others couldn’t wait for that first day of school. I must admit, summer vacations were awesome and I never wanted them to end and as the days grew shorter and nearer to that first day back, I slowly started getting a little stomach ache. I’m sure many of your kids are going through that right now! Alas, we grow up and there’s no such thing as summer vacation anymore (unless you’re a teacher). Nevertheless, I’m getting that little feeling in my stomach again, but not in a bad way this time. I’m genuinely excited about hitting the road for a couple weeks on the East Coast as I bring my new music from “XII” to life. We’ve played a handful of festivals over the summer but this will be the first consecutive run of shows that we’ll be doing in support of this record. My band is prepped and ready, the tour bus is getting fueled up, the equipment is being tweaked and I’m putting together the final set list (of course that could change nightly). As much as I love making records in the studio, I love going on the road even more because I get to share my music with you and get to see all your familiar faces out in the crowd every night as we hit the stage. There’s nothing like a live show....the energy, the excitement, the humor, the spontaneity, the sound and the lights. I am ready!!! And as always, I’ll be hanging out after every show to sign CDs, so I look forward to catching up with some of you and meeting others for the first time. Ahhh, an early fall tour on the East Coast....what could be better during this back-to-school time? So come on out, bring your friends and family and let’s get this party started!!!
