9.1.10 A Special Message from Brian!
Well folks, summer is almost over, the sun is going down quicker and I’m getting that ‘back-to-school’ feeling I used to have....you know the one. Some of you used to dread it and others couldn’t wait for that first day of school. I must admit, summer vacations were awesome and I never wanted them to end and as the days grew shorter and nearer to that first day back, I slowly started getting a little stomach ache. I’m sure many of your kids are going through that right now! Alas, we grow up and there’s no such thing as summer vacation anymore (unless you’re a teacher). Nevertheless, I’m getting that little feeling in my stomach again, but not in a bad way this time. I’m genuinely excited about hitting the road for a couple weeks on the East Coast as I bring my new music from “XII” to life. We’ve played a handful of festivals over the summer but this will be the first consecutive run of shows that we’ll be doing in support of this record. My band is prepped and ready, the tour bus is getting fueled up, the equipment is being tweaked and I’m putting together the final set list (of course that could change nightly). As much as I love making records in the studio, I love going on the road even more because I get to share my music with you and get to see all your familiar faces out in the crowd every night as we hit the stage. There’s nothing like a live show....the energy, the excitement, the humor, the spontaneity, the sound and the lights. I am ready!!! And as always, I’ll be hanging out after every show to sign CDs, so I look forward to catching up with some of you and meeting others for the first time. Ahhh, an early fall tour on the East Coast....what could be better during this back-to-school time? So come on out, bring your friends and family and let’s get this party started!!!

On July 20, 2010, Brian Culbertson released the twelfth album of his multi-faceted career, simply titled XII, on GRP Records/Verve.
XII is the highest charting record of Culbertson’s career, debuting at #82 on the Billboard Top 200 Chart, #9 on the R&B charts and #79 on the Current Chart. XII also sits squarely at the #1 spot on the Contemporary Jazz Chart, his fourth #1 record. In addition to his sales success, his single “Skies Wide Open” featuring Avant is #16 on both Adult R&B and Urban AC radio charts. His other single “That’s Life” was the #1 most added single in the Smooth Jazz format.
Culbertson commemorates his twelfth release with 12 new songs that continue to reflect his broad-ranging musicality and mastery of intimate moods. The titles swing from the rich love ballad “Skies Wide Open” (featuring R&B singing star Avant) to an an all-out Go-Go party jam titled “Feelin’ It” (featuring the man who put Washington, D.C.
