The Funk! Tour Pre-sale

Weds., June 1, 2016

I'm giving you the chance to use special offer code "FUNKTOUR" to get access to some of the best seats in the house before the general public can purchase this Friday!

I wrote what I think is a really helpful FAQ on how to buy tickets during the pre-sale.  Please read it below.

In building out this tour, I wanted the chance to be able to offer my fans the best possible seats with the lowest ticketing fee pricing.  I learned a lot about ticketing through the process and felt like I should put together a basic FAQ of getting tickets through the FUNK! Tour Pre-sale.

I've never done a tour like this before, so I wanted to make sure my fans have the most information to make the best decision about what shows to attend.

I'll apologize in advance for the wordiness, but more information is better than less information in this case. :)

How can I get tickets before the general public?

To offer fans direct access to great seats and do so at a lower ticket pricing, I decided to work with Applauze.

Applauze is a third party fan services company that has worked with a ton of major artists and events.  I like their philosophy of working with promoters to keep pesky ticketing fees down, as well as the data and information I'm able to access to better know where fans want to see me play.

You can access all pre-sale links on BrianCulbertson.com/Tour which is being powered by Applauze.  The code is "FUNKTOUR".

Will every show have a pre-sale?

No.

There are some shows that are already on-sale, and there are some shows that simply won't have a pre-sale and will go on-sale on Friday.

My managers and agents work with promoters to get access to tickets that are sold on Applauze.  So, for many dates the pre-sale links you're seeing will be sold on an Applauze page.

Some promoters don't allow me to sell tickets on Applauze, and in those cases, we've done our best to work with them to have a pre-sale code through their website.  In the links below, I've noted which is which so you won't get confused.

Can I pick my own seats during the pre-sale?

In most cases, no.  If you're buying tickets on Applauze (and many other ticketing sites), you won't be able to select seats.  It will be "Best Seat Available" mode.  The technology just has not come that far yet -- maybe that will be something they add in the future.

Are you offering some sort of VIP experience?

Yes!

I'll be offering VIPs as an Add-On, including a meet-and-greet, photo, an exclusive show poster, and the performance of a song you won't hear in the set!

The experience is sold as an Add-On, which is exactly what it sounds like: you'll need to purchase a ticket and then purchase a VIP-Add for the show.  It would be 2 separate transactions.

The following shows won't have VIP Add-Ons sold through Applauze:

1. In general, any "late" or "second show".  If I'm playing two shows a night, there's just not enough time to turn the house and for me to put on a proper VIP Event.  So for Denver, CO, Pittsburgh, PA, Boston, MA, or Minneapolis, MN, if you want VIP, buy the early show!
2. All Seattle, WA - Jazz Alley shows
3. Las Vegas, NV - Aliante Casino -- however, the casino has select VIP Offerings
4. Newport, CA - Hyatt Newporter
5. Temecula, CA - Thornton Winery

... and I think that's it!  Check out all dates HERE, and click on the link to access tickets.

Thanks for your continued support of the Funk!

See you on the road,

BC

Funk! Tour

Culbertson readying to take “Funk!” to the stage

“Been Around The World” to precede new album and extensive concert tour

Los Angeles, Calif. (25 May 2016): Message to funk received from the Mothership: hit-maker Brian Culbertson is in the studio conspiring with his cosmic group of musical soul brothers on his second funk collection, “Funk!,” which will be released September 16 on his BCM Entertainment label. Less than a week after his seventeenth album streets, the award-winning multi-instrumentalist will launch a coast-to-coast concert tour on a scale unlike any trek ever mounted by the vivacious showman who will be flanked by the same band showcased on the album. To help set the stage for the 11-song set plus three playful interlude sketches, all produced by Culbertson, radio stations will be serviced “Been Around The World” in early July.

Those who have caught a Culbertson show over the last year might have had a premonition that the R&B-jazzman was about to again morph into an emissary of funk, a mission that began with his 2008 recording “Bringing Back The Funk,” which he co-produced with the late Maurice White of Earth, Wind & Fire and featured legendary funksters Bootsy Collins and Larry Graham. His set list at recent gigs included a pair of funk classics, “Got To Give It Up” and “Play That Funky Music,” which made it onto the new album. The Chicago-bred musician who plays piano, Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer, clavinet, Hammond B3 organ, synths, trombone, bass, drums, percussion and sings on the entire record wrote or co-wrote nine new songs for “Funk!” that showcases his live band – Marqueal Jordan (vocals & sax), Tyrone Chase (guitars), Eddie Miller (keyboards, organ & vocals), Rodney Jones, Jr. (bass, guitar & vocals), Chris Miskel (drums) and Michael Stever (trumpeter & horn arrangements) along with Chance Howard, a nasty R&B keyboardist, bassist and vocalist who has toured and recorded with fellow Minnesota native Prince. Noted trumpeter Patches Stewart will replace Stever for the Funk! Tour.

Next month, Howard will join Culbertson on stage to premiere a few choice cuts from “Funk!,” including the first single, at Culbertson’s fifth anniversary Napa Valley Jazz Getaway, a wine and jazz lifestyle experience in the heart of California Wine Country taking place June 8-12.

“The concept for ‘Funk!’ was to make an old-school, throwback funkadelic record in the style of P-Funk meets Prince and to tour with the same band that appears on the album - my band plus Chance (Howard). We finished tracking and are mixing this week. The show we will be taking out on the road is unlike anything anyone has ever seen from me before. It’s on an entirely different level. Yes, we’re taking it there! I’m also very excited about capturing the magic by shooting a Blu-ray to be taped on tour this fall,” said Culbertson, who as an imaginative and trend-setting artist, producer and songwriter has architected 28 Billboard No. 1 singles along with a library of chart-topping albums dating back to 1994 when he landed a multi-album record deal while still a music major at DePaul University.

Once again, Culbertson has opened the doors to the recording studio by posting a series of video blogs from the “Funk!” sessions on his website (http://www.brianculbertson.com/funk) as well as engaging his followers through Facebook Live. And like his most recent studio release, he’s offering fans the opportunity to get involved with the process by launching an Indiegogo campaign (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/brian-culbertson-s-funk--2#/) that provides a menu of unique options, including VIP concert tickets, tickets for the Blu-ray filming, autographed CD, limited edition vinyl album, a private personalized video message, sheet music and a bobble head Funk! doll.

Fan Club tickets go on sale for the Funk! Tour beginning June 1, May 31st for Indiegogo supporters and June 3rd to the General Public.

The songs that comprise “Funk!” are:

“Get Ready”
“The Call”
“Been Around The World”
“Take It Up”
“Let’s Take A Ride”
“We Got What You Want”
“Sunshine” (interlude)
“Hey Girl”
“Damn, I’m Hungry” (interlude)
“Got To Give It Up”
“Mile Sauce”
“Play That Funky Music”
“Spend A Little Time”
“To Be Continued…” (interlude)

The Funk! Tour itinerary is listed HERE (additional dates will be added):

This Saturday night, March 12th, Brian will perform the National Anthem at the Charlotte Hornets game in Charlotte, NC as they take on the Houston Rockets. This is Brian's first time doing the anthem at a game so come out and support!

RIP Maurice White

One of the coolest and most gracious people I’ve ever known passed away last night. Maurice White, the founding member of Earth, Wind & Fire, and inspiration to musicians and people around the world had been battling Parkinson’s Disease for many years. I consider myself so lucky to have worked with him side by side for many months on one of my records back in 2008, a cherished memory I will never forget. I learned so much from him, not only musically but also how to be ‘off the court.’ Your music and legacy will live on forever. RIP Maurice.

New FUNK Record

Brian has been in the studio writing songs for a new FUNK record, due out this September. If you’ve been to one of his shows lately, you’ve heard a couple teasers: Marvin Gaye’s “Got To Give It Up” and Wild Cherry’s “Play That Funky Music.” However, the majority of the new material is more in line with old school Parliament Funkadelic.

Collaborations so far include sessions with Chance Howard, St. Paul Peterson, Sheldon Reynolds, Steve Lu, Ray Parker Jr., Major., Warryn Campbell, and Brian’s bassist, Rodney Jones Jr.

Production will begin this spring so stay tuned for a new video blog series from inside the studio! And similar to Brian’s last studio album, Another Long Night Out, he will offer fans exclusive ways to get involved in the record process via Indiegogo.

It’s been almost 8 years since the release of Bringing Back The Funk so everyone is excited to hear the current evolution of the FUNK by BC and co.

Plans are also in the works for an extensive FUNK Tour this fall. Stay tuned for the tour schedule to be announce later this spring.
